Jump into June with Southfield Stationers

Published by southfield under CALENDERS, Uncategorized

We are now  OPEN FOR BUSINESS again after our stock taking.

This week consists of two drop-ins the first one on Tuesday 1st June 1pm-4.30pm and then the second on Thursday 3rd June in the evening 6pm-9pm. Both are free so come along and have  lots of fun!

Then on Saturday 5th June 11am-4pm we have a rolling demonstration on Quilling with Moira Peter. Moira has been quilling for some time now and makes beautiful cards using different quilling techniques, so if you just want to see how it is done or you have any questions then feel free to come along.

And finally please note that we are moving our CHARITY EVENT to the same weekend as our SPECIAL EVENTS WEEKEND on Saturday & Sunday 3rd & 4th July as it seems a better idea to have them all on the same weekend instead of one after another. It also means the CHARITY EVENT will last for 2 days and so we will have a chance to make even more money for the said charity which is “Compassionate Friends”. For more information please contact the shop on 0131 654 4302.

This week at Southfield

Published by southfield under Uncategorized

At Southfield this week we have a workshop on Thursday with Paper Artist Isabell Buenz who specialises in making unique and one-off artists’ books that come in all shapes and sizes. Isabell will be teaching a class on how to make some unusual soft cover notebooks, based on simple but effective bookbinding techniques:

Folded covers contain triangular pages that can be removed once filled with your decoration, writing or treasures. Another book is ideal for keepsakes and wee secrets to be hidden in different pockets, produced by simple folding techniques. This workshop is aimed at all levels. Some participants might find the time to complete a slipcase to hold their new notebook collection.

There is still time to book a place on Thursday’s class which runs from 10am - 1pm and costs £12 for craft club members and £15 for non-members.

On Saturday Jenni will demonstrate Framed Memories, using some fun and interesting techniques with inks and rubber stamps, at 10.30am. In the afternoon we will have a drop in crafting session to which everyone is invited to come along and get in involved in making cards. The session is free to attend, you only pay for the materials you use.

Look forward to seeing you this week.

What’s happening at Southfield

Published by southfield under NEW LINES, Uncategorized

This week at Southfield we are having a bit of a refit in the shop and want to apologise to our customers for the disruption! Although things are a bit chaotic we remain open throughout and we know that you will be happy with the changes we are making to improve the shop.

On Saturday this week we are having the first of our new season of workshops kicking off with Ann Munro and her Carousel Card. It is a fantastic card for a special occasion and Ann will also show you how to make a box to present it in.

There are still places available on this workshop which runs from 10.30 - 12.30, the cost is only £10 or £8 for Craft Club members. Call us or drop in to book a place.

Also on Saturday Jenni will be demonstrating the use of alcohol inks - these are permanent, fast drying, transparent, acid free dye inks specially formulated to create a vibrant, polished stone look. They are formulated for use on glossy paper, dominoes, metal foil, shrink plastic, glass and other slick surfaces and are a perfect ink for many paper and craft projects.

There are still a few places left on next week’s kids workshops, Tuesday is Noisy Wire with the Science Sleuth and Thursday we will be Creating a Calendar (remember to bring a photo for this one). Both workshops run from 10.30 -12 o’clock and cost £5.00.

Saturday at Southfield

Published by southfield under Uncategorized

There is a lot going on in the Southfield Shop this weekend - firstly we have a showcase: Annette Tait will be creating cards using a collage style of construction using materials such as buttons, scrap pictures, leaves, shells, fabric scraps and ribbons. Annette specialises in textile art and makes collages, cards and a very unusual line in handbags.

As well as the showcase Jeanette is running a two hour workshop in Rubber Stamping, she will be going into more detail on the art and techniques of stamping and you will have the opportunity to try all the different inks, embossing powders and colouring methods. For our Craft Club members the price of this workshop will be only £4 if you have already booked to see Jeanette’s Stamping Demo either on the 4th or the 18th of July. For non-members who’d like to  take part in the workshop the price is £10.  Great value for money and great fun into the bargain!

In the afternoon there will also be a drop in session so if you’re stuck for ideas or your mojo has gone missing why not pop round to Southfield and have a play along with us.
