Our new calendar shows all the events that are coming up so not check it out Here. While talking about events for your diary remember Saturday the 31st is our second specials day where we have demos and discount like you would not believe.

Well it looks a lot like summer at the moment, the weather has been great, school is about to finish for the holidays and we have now released our schedule for the second half of 2009. With lots of exciting new workshops and drop-in craft sessions, we are looking forward to a very busy six months and we would be delighted to see you all joining in with us and getting down to some serious crafting! The new events leaflet is available in the shop now so pop in and pick one up and be the first to sign up for the workshops.

Meanwhile next Saturday, 4th July, Jeanette is demonstrating rubber stamping. We have a whole lot of lovely stamp sets in the shop and she will be showing you all how to make the most of them and the different effects which can be achieved with inks and embossing powders. There are still places available at the morning session from 10.30am and more at 2.30pm. The demo will last for approximately 45 minutes and costs £4. Please give us a call if you would like to book a place.

Also, just to remind you, the children’s workshops are starting on Tuesday, 7th July, and there are still places available so why not book your kids in for some summer fun at Southfield. See earlier post (June 9th) for more details.

On Saturday we had our first drop-in crafting session, several of our customers sat down with us and tried their hands at producing a fan card like the one pictured below. Everyone produced something different and all of them took a lovely handmade card home with them after a fun afternoon learning new techniques.

We will now be holding regular drop-ins every Tuesday, every second Thursday evening from August and every third Saturday of the month. Everyone is welcome to come and join in, learn new tips and techniques, try something you’ve seen in a magazine or on TV, discuss ideas and make new friends. You can bring your own tools or use ours and you will only have to pay for the materials you use.

Helena Malcolm is back this Wednesday, 24th June, for her Parchment Card workshop, this is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced crafters so if you fancy learning a new skill give us a call to book a place for this popular class. It begins at 10am and runs for three hours at a cost of £15 which includes refreshments.

On Saturday 27th  Jenni will be demonstrating a variety of methods of colouring your stamped images, come along and see how to use Water Colour Pencils, Sakura Pens, Distress Inks and Powdered Pearl Paints to produce various different effects.

Kids Summer Holiday Workshops

Fun Science & Crafty Keepsakes

Suitable for ages 7 - 11

Here at Southfield Craft and Paper Store we are running classes for children throughout the Summer Holidays.

On Tuesdays the workshops will be science based and will involve making model lighthouses which actually light up and a working morse code kit for sending messages to friends and relations,
Thursday classes will be craft related and we will make beautiful clothes peg butterflies and other
lovely items to take home and impress the family.

Workshops will run for an hour and a half from 10.30am. The charge per session will be £5 , £4.50 each if you book 4 or £4.00 each for all 8 classes.

Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Southfield Team

On Wednesday 29th April 2009, we still have places available for our Make & Take Parchment Class.  The time is from 10.00am - 1pm, the cost is £15.00 and £14.00 for Craft Club Members.  Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided.  In this class Helena will be demonstatring shading techniques on the vellums and using felt pens to colour she will also be incorporating some decoupage flowers to show the versatility of this marvelous craft.

This Saturday  Jeanette will repeating the demonstration of cards for men.  It’s always a little more difficult for most of us to work out what to do for a male greeting card.  Jeanette will be sharing some handy hints and tips on matching up colours and designs.  She will be using our die cut letters and numbers and combining these with male background paper designs and some acetate too.  We also have some male designs in the Pyramid sheets not to mention our Die Cut Decoupage sheets with sporting themes and also cars & racing designs.

There are still places for both demonstrations which will be held in our demo suite.  The times are 10.30am and 2.30pm.  The demo lasts approx. 45mins and the cost is £4.00. Please contact us if you wish to book a place. Tel 0131 654 4300.

This Saturday at Southfield we have the very talented Elaine McLeod demonstrating Easy Parchment Craft. Her work, shown below, is a stunning mix of textures and colours - each piece is a veritable work of art!

She will be showing you how to get quick and easy results using pre-printed vellum available to purchase in our shop. It would be well worth stopping by this Saturday as Elaine will be passing on tips and techniques that will have you confidently producing your own works of art!

Elaine will be in store between 11am and 5pm and is looking forward to seeing you there.

TINA O’DONNELL SATURDAY SHOWCASE

It’s the weekly update to let you know what’s on at Southfield this Saturday the 4th April 2009.

We are having our Demonstrator’s Showcase and we are delighted to welcome back Tina O’Donnell, who is an extremely talented demonstrator and crafter. Tina will be showing how to decorate small gift bags and boxes, just by adding some simple but effective embellishments to  bags and boxes.  The bags and boxes are cut from our wonderful base materials using the RollModel machine.  The  RollModel is our new cutting machine from the same family as the Big Shot but the  RollModel is a much bigger machine.  You can book time in shop on the  RollModel to cut out all your favourite shapes.  You can choose from our large selection of dies.  We are offering a special introductory charge of £3 for 15 minutes or £10 for an hour on the machine.   Tina also plans to cover some birthday cards and make use of our brand new ultra sparkly glitter card and our beautiful irridescent glitter card.  Tina has a great eye for colour and detail so this should prove to be a great day.
