Firstly this week at Southfield we have our monthly parchment class on Wednesday 28th 10am-1pm and then in the evening we have the second of our photography Surgeries which is 7-9pm.

BUT MOST EXCITINGLY IS OUR “SPECIAL EVENTS DAY” ON HALLOWEEN SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER.

There is going to be soo much fang-tastic things going on, we have two work shops which are CLEVER CUTTLEBUG IDEAS 10am-1pm, then WONDERFUL WAYS WITH ALCOHOL INKS 2pm-4pm, both with Yvonne Carruthers.

There will be a FREE running demonstration in the shop, this is a demo that will be constantly repeated so that no matter what time you turn up you will be able to catch what is going on no booking necessary but we do ask that once you have seen the demo to let other take your place to watch.

There will be a 10% discount on absolutely everything in the shop INCLUDING the bargain baskets and all the brand new gift stock which will be debuting on the 31st, this will include a range of luscious fun and fashion pens,Yankee candles, Willow Tree figurines,novelty mugs, money banks, clocks and a lovely new range of jewellery so why not start your Christmas shopping now and take advantage of the discount!!

All our crafting machines like the SISSIX, CUTTLEBUG and PURPLE COW will also be at SPECIAL EVENTS DAY price which you will also get 10% off AS WELL.

This would also be a good day, if you are thinking of getting a canvas or jigsaw made of your favourite photo, to take advantage of the reduced prices.

AND finally since it is HALLOWEEN all the staff will be dressing up MORE scarily that usual  so if anyone would like to join us please feel free.

One last thing on an environmental note we would ask people if they can to start bringing any bags to put there purchases in(if you don’t already) so we can lower our usage of plastic bags and do our bit to help the environment. With the school holidays now in force we have got two kids workshops on the go.

Our first one is on Tuesday 20th with our very own science sleuth Ann Gray and this time round she is doing “Halloween Magic” for all the budding Wizards out there.(There will be a ten minute showcase at the end of this to show friends and family what they have learnt).

Our second class is on Thursday 22nd  with the talented Ann Munro who is doing Halloween “Trick or Treat” bags with all our young crafters, so book up asap so you don’t miss out!

We also have offered up a prize worth £50 to be won by one lucky reader of “The Dalkeith Advertiser”! The competition will run this Thursday 22nd so remember and pick up a copy for your chance to win a bumper bag of Southfield goodies!

Also don’t forget this Thursday is our late night drop in session as normal so hope to see you there between 6-9pm.

On Saturday this coming weekend we also have a showcase with Marita Soutar showing how she makes beautiful items using Altered Art and if you find this of interest she will be doing a workshop in November so please ask shop staff for details.

And as I mentioned last week the photographer will also be here between 11-1pm holding a surgery!

And finally we have had a delivery from SISSIX so we have some nice new dies and embossing folders in store and we should have our Cuttlebug order in hopefully by the end of this week also.

Also this Saturday we have another fantastic Christmas demo with Jeanette which starts at 10.30am and then in the afternoon we have our drop-in session so why not come along and play.

For those of you who did not want to come to the evening photographic surgery we have asked John Fowler to do a Saturday session as well and he has agreed to do one on Saturday the 24th October between 11 and 1pm. Again this is a free session but you do have to book as there will be limited spaces. To book please contact the shop.

We have a fabulous jewellery making workshop on this week on Thursday 15th October 10-1pm with Lynn and Justine from Angel Designs. Teaching you how to make your own charm bracelet. Please contact the shop for more details.

Our new calendar shows all the events that are coming up so not check it out Here. While talking about events for your diary remember Saturday the 31st is our second specials day where we have demos and discount like you would not believe.

Also this weekend at Southfield we have a workshop with Jeanette who will be showing you how to make Beautiful Christmas cards using the New Wendy Stanton Design templates. This is on Saturday 10th October 2.30 - 4.30pm. And in the shop we have a showcase with Janet Malcolm Showing how to make Stationery sets which you will have the chance to buy on the day.

We have some amazing new Southfield card stock coming in this week! Two new varieties, firstly our Velveteen card, this product comes in fantastically vivid colours and has a smooth, lush texture finish almost like velvet, as the name suggests! Secondly there is our Centura Pearl card this is has a pearlescent, metallic-style finish coat to it and is acid and lignin free. Both of these come in 280 gsm and is single sided card.

The raffle for Cancer Research is still on the go, we have to very nice bottles of wine which were very kindly donated to us by Elizabeth Wilkie and to this we are adding a goodie bag worth £10 so if you haven’t already bought your tickets you still have a little time left as the winning ticket will be drawn on the 31st October at our special events day, which will be jam packed with all sorts of bargains, classes, demos and lots of halloween fun.
